Description
Gulab Jamun is one of India’s most iconic desserts, made from milk solids kneaded into soft dough, shaped into balls, deep-fried, and soaked in a fragrant sugar syrup. Traditionally served warm or at room temperature, this sweet is a staple at weddings, festivals, and celebratory meals across India.
The dough is prepared using khoya (reduced milk) or milk powder, flavored with cardamom and a touch of ghee. After deep-frying until golden brown, the jamuns are soaked in warm sugar syrup infused with rose water, cardamom, and sometimes saffron. The result is a melt-in-the-mouth sweet with a rich, floral aroma and soft, syrupy bite.
Gulab Jamun is enjoyed across regions from Lucknow to Madurai and continues to be a nostalgic dessert favorite in Indian homes across Mississauga, Brampton, and Scarborough.
