Description
Chicken Tikka Kothu Paratha is a fusion street food dish that blends the rich, smoky flavors of North Indian chicken tikka with the chopped-and-fried texture of Tamil Nadu’s classic kothu paratha. Widely popular in urban areas and among the Tamil diaspora, this dish represents the evolution of South Indian street cuisine.
The preparation begins with layered parathas that are chopped on a hot tawa and stir-fried with scrambled egg, sautéed onions, chilies, curry leaves, and spices. Grilled chicken tikka—marinated in yogurt, red chili, and garam masala—is then added, giving the dish a charred, tangy twist. The mixture is chopped and blended continuously to form a flavorful, cohesive mash.
Chicken Tikka Kothu Paratha is often served with raita or a spicy salna and is especially loved in college messes, roadside stalls, and Indo-fusion eateries in cities like Chennai, Madurai, and among Tamil communities in Brampton, Edmonton, and Scarborough.
