Description
Chilli Chicken is a classic Indo-Chinese dish made with fried chicken pieces tossed in a spicy, tangy sauce flavored with garlic, green chilies, and bell peppers. Hugely popular in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, it is served in both dry and semi-gravy forms across restaurants, street stalls, and tiffin centers.
Chicken pieces are marinated with soy sauce, chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, and cornflour, then deep-fried until crispy. The fried chicken is stir-fried on high flame with onions, capsicum, garlic, green chilies, and a sauce made from soy, vinegar, and chili paste. The dry version is often served as a starter, while the semi-gravy pairs well with fried rice or noodles.
Chilli Chicken is a staple in Indo-Chinese menus across Chennai, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore and continues to be a go-to spicy starter among Indian families in Mississauga, Brampton, and Scarborough.
