Description
Kadai Paneer is a popular North Indian dish made with paneer cubes sautéed in a spicy, aromatic tomato-based gravy, served traditionally in an iron wok known as a kadai. Though originally from Punjab, the dish is widely prepared in both North and South Indian homes and restaurants, especially in multi-cuisine menus.
The curry is made with a freshly ground kadai masala that includes dry-roasted coriander seeds, fennel, and red chilies. Paneer is cooked with diced onions and bell peppers in this thick gravy, giving it a smoky, bold flavor and rustic texture. Unlike creamy paneer gravies, kadai paneer is semi-dry and rich in spices, typically enjoyed with naan, chapati, or jeera rice.
Kadai Paneer is a staple in vegetarian thalis and festive meals across cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kochi, and continues to be a favorite among Indian families in Mississauga, Brampton, and Surrey.
