Description
Mysore Masala Dosa is a classic South Indian tiffin dish that originated in the royal city of Mysuru, Karnataka. This iconic variation of the dosa is known for its spicy red chutney smeared inside the dosa and a flavorful potato masala filling, creating a dish that is both bold and balanced.
The dosa is made from a fermented batter of rice and urad dal, spread thin and crisped on a hot griddle. The inner surface is coated with a red chutney made from dry red chilies, garlic, roasted lentils, and tamarind. A generous portion of mashed potato cooked with mustard seeds, curry leaves, onions, and turmeric is placed inside before the dosa is folded and served with chutneys and sambar.
Mysore Masala Dosa remains a celebrated part of Karnataka’s culinary heritage and is widely enjoyed in tiffin centers, restaurants, and home kitchens across India and by South Indian food lovers in cities like Calgary, Mississauga, and Surrey.
