Description
Paneer Chettinadu is a spicy South Indian curry that infuses soft paneer cubes with the bold, aromatic flavors of Chettinad cuisine from Tamil Nadu. Traditionally known for its complex spice blends and dry-roasting techniques, Chettinad cooking transforms this vegetarian dish into a fiery and richly layered curry.
The gravy is made using a freshly ground masala of dry-roasted coriander seeds, fennel, black pepper, red chilies, and cinnamon, blended with sautéed onions, tomatoes, ginger, and garlic. Paneer is added to the thick masala and cooked until well-coated and infused with the spice base. Curry leaves and a drizzle of sesame oil add to the regional authenticity and fragrance.
Paneer Chettinadu is typically served with chapati, parotta, or rice and is popular in both vegetarian restaurants and multi-cuisine menus across Madurai, Karaikudi, and Coimbatore, as well as among Tamil food lovers in Mississauga, Scarborough, and Brampton.
